SWATYCOMET

Leta 1946 so uvedli proizvodnjo brusov v smolni vezi. Leta 1963 so pričeli s proizvodnjo smolno vezanih brusov, 1978 s proizvodnjo diamantnih izdelkov v kovinski vezi, 1984 s proizvodnjo diamantnega in bornitridnega brusilnega orodja.

SWATYCOMET

The factory of artificial abrasives was established in 1879 by the chemist Franz Swaty. The company’s activities were initially based on the manufacture of mineral bonded abrasives according to the company’s patented process. In 1929, the company began manufacturing vitrified bonded abrasives. In 1945, the factory was severely damaged by allied bombing. After World War II, the company was nationalised. In 1946, Swaty started manufacturing resin bonded abrasives. The production greatly increased with the purchase of a new hydraulic press in 1962. Over the following years, production and export were gradually increasing. The company began manufacturing resin bonded abrasives suitable for use at high peripheral speeds in 1963, metal bonded diamond products in 1978 and diamond and boron nitride resin bonded abrasive tools in 1984.

Swaty was the only factory of artificial abrasives in Yugoslavia until 1958, when the company Comet was founded in Zreče. Comet started manufacturing the first magnesite based artificial abrasives. Products from the Swaty factory were exported to numerous European countries and to other continents. In 1994, the company exported 80 % of all their products. In 1992, the company was transformed into Swaty d.d. joint stock company. In 2007, Swaty and Comet became members of the Avtotehna Group and in 2010, both companies merged into SWATYCOMET.

Today, Swatycomet’s production is comprised of cut-off and grinding wheels, coated abrasives for all types of machining, technical fabrics and industrial grinding tools. The company exports more than 80 % of its sales to numerous countries all over the world.
